Vegan Lapel Pin and Poem

In June this year I designed and fabricated a Vegan Lapel Pin for a friend in Italy- this was his reponse and I feel most honoured to post it here. At some stage I shall translate it into English and German ! However for the time being…..here it is- Carissima Frances, scrivo questa lettera senza sapere come poter esprimere i miei sentimenti sulla carta. Sicuramente non sarò altrettanto bravo come te nella tua arte a cui dedichi tanto tempo e passione con ottimi risultati. Bauhinia tree inspiration

On the Bauhinia tree

  Well, who would be interested in this, I ask myself….   As I sit under a canopy of ancient arborial giants – some indigenous, others, like me, ‘aliens’ born in this land of my heart, their seed transplanted here by some distant ancestor of my kind more than a century ago. No longer aliens actually, part of the landscape and soil, their roots permanently transfixed in Zulu soil. It is, however, the Bauhinia that captures my interest. Courses for this year

I’ll be resuming my regular courses in the VHS Vaterstetten in October of this year see here (‘Herbst Kurse-Goldschmieden’ to be live on the net only from September 2013) My regular Thursday course runs from 10th October to 5th December. My Seminars there will be in Vaterstetten on Saturday 19th Oct. Theme -‘Klankügel als Glücksbringer’. And in Poing on Friday/Saturday 15th and 16th Nov. Theme-‘Schönes für den Tisch’. The picture above shows some inspirational possibilites for the silversmithed tableware to be made in the seminar in Poing. More details for both seminars, including those in Northern Italy

Künst und Handarbeit im Garten

Nur einmal im Jahr, das aber nun schon seit 13 Jahren, stelle ich meine Arbeiten auf einem Markt aus. Sie merken es schon an diesem einleitenden Satz: Märkte gehören nicht zu meinen bevorzugten Verkaufsorten! Es beginnt schon damit, dass ich meinen “inneren Schweinehund” überwinden muss und in aller Früh’ Vitrinen und weitere, bereits am Vortag eingepackte Stücke, 3 Ettagen nach unten schleppe, ins Auto packe – zusammen mit dem Pavillionzelt und vielen anderen Utensilien mehr, um mich anschliessend ins Auto zu setzen um nach Unterspann bei Pliening-Gelting, im wirklich ländlichen Oberbayern, zu fahren! Mein Weg führt
